is a lot of fun! To me that’s part of the blogging experience and that is a feeling I share with so many others around the blogosphere. It’s a great way to make some kind of use of all my Photoshop creations and I learn something new every day.
When we all migrated here back in October last year I was pretty much clueless of CSS. At first it felt overwhelming but I just couldn’t let go of it — perhaps because it was there — I knew it was possible to do great stuff with it.
Still I just know basic stuff but as you can see here I’m at least able to put in various backgrounds… I’ve made the blue buttons etc. It took a great deal of work but I find it immensely gratifying.
What really brings me down is the stupidity of the browsers. Well..not the browsers themselves but the fact that it doesn’t work the same way in Internet Explorer and Firefox. I use IE myself and do everything here but I always bring up my page in Firefox to check that everything looks alright there too as it is such a popular browser.
I did that today and found that there was a space in between the header and the blue bar with the buttons in Firefox but not in IE. I moved the header down until it looked perfect then I went back to IE and the whole thing was completely out of whack!
Things like that is perhaps the downside of being self-taught. I don’t know why it happens or how to fix it. Of course there are bunches of pages out here on how to code ones page with CSS but they are merely when you have a web page of your own…not like here when you edit a page that is hosted elsewhere.
It’s already 1 o’clock in the morning and I’ll be going to bed in a little while and read. I’m reading a book that’s almost finished and I don’t want it to end because it’s so good. It’s one of the books I bought on the book fair last Fall. «Acts of Faith» by Erich Segal…same guy who wrote Love Story. It’s basically about two young boys from Brooklyn…one is Jewish and the other Catholic…how their lives turn out…

I have run into the same problem on web sites when testing in various browsers. It drives me crazy. I’m almost ready to take another class to see if I can find an answer. Perhaps there is a forum or something online that would address the issue….I’m taking a metal smithing class and – well, I don’t know where my time goes.
By the way – the button is very classy.
